Qube volunteering aim to develop and support voluntary and community groups in Oswestry by providing access to information, advice and guidance on training and funding for the sector. As the Volunteer Centre, Oswestry we promote volunteering through the national volunteering database at www.do-it.org.uk and through public and networking events. Oswestry Voluntary Sector Network meets quarterly at Qube in March, June, September and December and is open to anyone involved in managing volunteers in the Oswestry area.
National Volunteers Week runs from 1 to 7 June every year and we use this and Make A Difference Day in October to promote volunteering.
Partnerships
OCA is part of the North West Shropshire Volunteer Enhancement Partnership which aims to develop and support voluntary and community groups in the Oswestry and Ellesmere areas and to build the skills and knowledge of the partner organisations, their staff, volunteers and other voluntary groups.
We are also a partner in the Shropshire CVS Partnership which aims to:
build the capacity and management of an effective Shropshire CVS Partnership to ensure delivery of a programme of work agreed by the partners;
provide information and advice to voluntary and community organisations in more collaborative, cost-efficient and user-friendly ways;
enable the voluntary and community sector to exercise greater influence on strategic issues through improved representation, research and consultative activity;
promote volunteering activity jointly with a view to increasing involvement and support across all communities and age ranges;
initiate and develop opportunities for the voluntary and community sector to improve its capacity to meet identified needs in Shropshire;
encourage participation by voluntary and community organisations, and in particular small under-represented community groups, in developing shared objectives.
Equal opportunities
We operate an equal opportunities policy, a copy of which is available on request. We refuse any request for volunteering support which appears to be in breach of this. We cannot meet requests for volunteers to work outside the area served by the Centre. We cannot guarantee to find a suitable volunteer for any vacancy. All interviews with prospective volunteers are subject to our confidentiality policy.
