MAVIS helps disabled and older motorists make informed choices about their own mobility needs. The service provides practical advice on driving, vehicle adaptation and suitable vehicle types for both drivers and passengers. MAVIS also provides a wide range of factsheets, contact lists, leaflets and booklets.

Shropshire Community Cars
Community cars provide lifts with volunteers using their own cars and Rural Rider and Village Link buses, servicing the more rural parts of the county. The aim of these schemes is to provide accessible but also affordable transport for visits to dentists, opticians, chiropodists, hospital visiting, collecting pensions etc. Shropshire County Council's Community Transport Officer can advise you whether your journey is eligible and put you in touch with your local co-ordinator. Age Concern
Age Concern and the WRVS have minibuses/ambulances with tail lifts. These are in use frequently during the week but it is sometimes possible to arrange to use them. Tel: 01743 233123 for more information.
British Red Cross
Provides a service for people who cannot easily use public transport eg wheelchair users. There is a charge for this service. The British Red Cross also provides short-term loans of wheelchairs. Tel 01743 280070 for more information.
Ambulance Service - Ambulance Car Scheme
If you have to attend hospital as an in-patient or out-patient, transport may be arranged for you free of charge. To use this service, patients usually require a referral from their doctor or hospital.
